Exceeding Expectations

Exceeding Expectations Blog Entry Image

Making wedding dreams come true, hosting VIP celebrities, welcoming conference attendees. We've been in the hospitality business for a long time. Since 1974 to be exact.

We've earned many awards over the years for our excellence in service and each new one we receive is as exciting as the last. Now, for the third year in a row, we have been awarded Smart Meetings magazine’s prestigious 2012 Platinum Choice award. This coveted award recognizes excellence in service and amenities among the top meeting facilities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Among thousands of qualified properties and organizations, The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center earned Platinum Choice recognition by providing the best in guest service, meeting space, recreational activities, food and beverage offerings and overall facility quality. Winners were chosen by Smart Meetings’ readers, the magazine’s editorial staff and industry experts.

“This year’s winners exceeded expectations and exemplified positive, professional standards that reflect a true commitment to the meetings industry,” said Marin Bright, founder and publisher of Smart Meetings magazine, a monthly trade magazine for meeting professionals.

The magazine will feature the Platinum Choice winners in its December issue.

Romantic Touches

Romantic Touches Blog Entry Image

Jobs, kids, in-laws, bills.  Life can certainly suck the romance out of any marriage.  If one day you wake up feeling like you don’t know your spouse anymore, it’s time to do something about it. Here are some inexpensive and easy ways to revive a stale relationship.

Be spontaneous! Start with a surprise getaway for just the two of you.  You don’t have to have your own private jet to get away.  Book a one-night stay in a close-to-home hotel or B&B.  Call the babysitter, ask your spouse to pack an overnight bag and hit the road.  Now that summer is over, this is the right time to find low rates at many leisure resorts.

Have fun. Get out of the normal routine by doing something together that you’ve never done before.  Rent bicycles, go kayaking, take a segway tour.  Try a new cuisine.  Go to the Ballet or Symphony.  Visit a museum.   Sign up for a painting or cooking class.  Picnic in the park.

Change up your look.  It can be as simple as throwing out those raggedy pajamas.  Or go a bit more drastic by changing your hair style or color or shave your beard (guys!).

Ignite the fire!  A couple’s massage at a luxury spa is nice but giving each other massages is better. That physical contact will get the romantic sparks flying.  Hold hands, look through your wedding photos, write each other a love note … anything that reminds you why you married your spouse in the first place.

Remember, the grass is only greener on the other side because you’re not watering your own lawn.

Well, we hate to brag but ... we're going to do it anyway! We're pretty excited to tell you that we were named a "Best of the South" facility by Meetings Focus Magazine. Oh, and we are the only Houston property on the list.

Here's our official press release.

The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center has been named a 2012 “Best of the South” meeting facility by readers of Meetings Focus South Magazine. The resort is the only Houston property recognized among six Texas hotels named on the Best of the South list.

Selected by meeting planners, The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center earned Best of South recognition by providing quality meeting space; guestrooms; outstanding guest service and amenities; food and beverage offerings; helpfulness of staff and overall value.

“There are plenty of fantastic meeting facilities in Texas and to be the only Houston property to make the list speaks volumes about the overall meeting experience groups will find here,” said Kent Johnson, general manager for the 440-room property.

Meetings Focus South magazine, a monthly trade magazine for meeting professionals, announced the Best of the South winners in its September issue.

Our employees all shared in this success so thanks for letting us toot our own horn!
